Default More interaction with people, nature and objects! NOW!

As you probably already know, this game would get the worst possible grade if we are tlaking about being able to interact with your envoirment and change it. For exampel; You can't go inside houses, you can't jump, you can't climb down hills (It's like an invisible wall as soon as you reach a hill-even rocks), you can't atack civilians outside the towns and such.

I'd like this to change, I think it actully is a must. Here are my demands, let's see if you agree:

1. You should be able to enter houses, at least one or two. I haven't noticed one single inside envoirment. Do people in this game only build houses but never use them? hehe :P

2. Do we have roots or something? Common a jump function would take 1 day of programing.

3. Yes, there shouldn't be an invisible wall ass soon as you wan't to go upp a 20 CM high wall -.-

4. I belive you should be able to atack civilians outside the main towns (Such as townsmen and farmers as examples) . A fun (but I know hard thing to add this far in game development) would be charisma. You could be hated or loved. And this would give you new abilities to evolve, who only you can have cause of your (pretty much) uniqe charisma. Maybe theifs would gladly trade or join upp with you while say guards and monks would ignore you.

Question 4 is more than open for debate, I'm not even sure it would be good, but 1-3 is a must!

There is plenty of interaction with nature. Like those damn 2 foot high hills you have to go 5 miles around out of your way just to get down that hill.

Strategic elements and more straightforwardness, putting a 50foot tall jagged rise to each would merely make maps flow alot less and remove alot of the bonus for more relatively flat areas or else bows would become very powerful at these. The point isn't that you should be able to run up those, it is to use those as a ranged class to protect yourself, gain some distance and damage on enemies.

1. I might give you the inside of houses in a few areas, but, I've never seen the purpose to it if there isn't anything specific to it, in almost every other game the excess of small structures makes alot of useless polygons and annoying attempts to find people within towns. It was frustrating running around Kelethin door to door searching for certain NPCs when I was new to EQ, would've been a thousand times easier if they were just outside.

Though I will say there is a startling lack of anything seemingly indoors, a few caves, but no grand halls.

2. As for jump, that would require too much change to the current structure. What good is jump really when you want this tactical advantage and there are so many massive drop offs that you'd have to invisible wall off so people didn't get themselves stuck. It is essentially a useless item in other games except they are designed with jumping in mind for their maps, GW isn't and thus shouldn't.

4. This really makes you out to be a hero for the people, and it was sort of designed around that. While a few other games do this, there has been little effect. Granted it wouldn't be hard to implement to some degree, just not sure it is necessary at all.

Hello. I'm guessing you are one of the developers to this game. Well here are my reasons which also will answer your arguments.

The point of say a high and steep hill is that the group on it should get a litle advantage but the group down of it should be able to run upp on all sides of the hill and surround and crush the group on on the hill. They shouldn't be forced (as they are now) to run around the entire hill just to go upp it. Or to run around the rock formation just to get on the other side. When I posted this thread I knew somone would apply that this is better than 50 foot high walls and such. But the point is that there shouldn't be a invisible or not invisible 50 foot high wall in the middle of the forest. In a forest you should be able to more or less get from point A to point B anyway you wan't. There shouldn't be tremendous advantages for bowmen and such in the forest. Some other examples are very small walls or corners you just can't get upon, no one can. It has nothing to do with strategic or tactical purpose. If we could have a jump function this would all change.

I hope this answers both your first and your second argument.

True. For the game there is no real purpose to have houses. But everything is not about the point of the game and leveling and getting better EQ. There should be some room for atmosphere and realism in the game to. If you are new to a town in real life as you were in EQ then it's just realistic that you should be asking around and looking around to find the shop or person you are looking for. This would add new elements to the game to. More people would interact with each other instead of just like now "Hey wanna go on party" "Sure" "kk , come" .

4. I think this would be good only from the point that it should be possible.
Besides that I don't see any great reason for it so call it a finess to the game

I know I'm asking for much, maybe even in an arrogant way but please understand. This and the lack of role play districts/chats are the only things I'm missing. I most honestly think this is one of the best MMORPGs ever made. It's easy to learn but hard to master Just my style!

I menth a jump function so that you can jump away (dodge) from shoots, jump on things and such. Not just jump upp and down :P

I'd like to think that Guild Wars is the kind of game that "trims the fat" so to speak. In other words lets not put in things that will not be functional toward gameplay. You could argue that dying clothes is certainly not functional and I would agree.

1. There are inside environments - catacombs, ice caves. You may have noticed that the camera can get wacky in these zones.

3. I think these "walls" are going to be here for good, changing this would essentially change the whole game since many places could be reached quickly and some off limits places could be found - causing additional bugs.

When the authority obeys the people! Viva la revolucia :P

-----------------------

I think the dying cloethes thing is an awsome idea. If you wan't pure action RPG then go for Diablo 2 . I'd like to keep some atmoshphere left

Ever tried that in real life in a forrest? Or in a rocky landscape?

I agree that there are areas in GW where it should be either made a bit clearer that it isn't possible to climb the hill, but mostly I have no problem with the way they've created these walls...
If they weren't there, they'd have to implement some sort of skill system for climbing hills... And then you'd just have the same argument all over, but this time that certain hills should be climbable with X levels in climbing, whilst it now needs X+1...

As for the jumping, does it really add that much? Is the added complexity in controlling your character outweighed by being able to jump to avoid attacks? And what if you jump sideways, should you always land on your feet, which would be ridiculous, or fall? And how much damage should the fall give you? If you land on rocky ground, should you be stunned?
If you want to have jumping as a part of the game, and be somewhat realistic, there are a lot of factors you have to think about...

If doding is so important for you, why not play a char with dodging skills?

I have no problem with it. I played SWG, I love the feeling of being restricted when it comes to terrain now.
